MANUNET is a joint effort between 22 contractor partners, representing 13 regions (Basque Country, Catalonia, East Netherlands, Emilia Romagna, Flanders, Lower Austria, Navarra, North Rhein Westfalia, Northern Ireland, Piedmont, Tuscany, Wallonia and Western Greece) and 5 countries (Estonia, Germany, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia), plus 10 extra associated partners (France, Switzerland, Asturias, Lower Silesia, Aragon, East Midlands, Provence, Styria, Tampere and Valencia), based on a shared view for Europe. The strategic objective of the MANUNET is to foster the competitiveness of Europe’s Manufacturing Industry by supporting the funding of manufacturing research projects performed by enterprises (preferably SMEs) and their strategic partnerships.

The MATERA ERA-NET promotes European cooperation between national and regional programmes on material science and engineering. MATERA has brought together an active network of 18 organisations from 16 countries. The goal of a MATERA Call is to launch transnational, interdisciplinary, innovative projects and to narrow the gap between basic materials research and industrial applications. ERA-LEARN is a systematic investigation of experiences and acquired know-how with the perspective to identify good examples and to develop a set of recommended procedures This includes the examination of complementarities and synergies of the ERA-NET instrument with the other existing schemes and programmes at all levels (regional, national, trans-national, international). MNT-ERA.NET is a large network of European Micro and Nano Technology (MNT) support programmes. It was launched in 2004 and during five years (2004-2008) it has been running under the ERA-NET scheme of the 6th EU Framework Programme. MNT-ERA.NET is continuing its activities under the 7th EU Framework Programme until 2011. MNT-ERA.NET comprises 21 European countries and regions, all represented by national and regional ministries or funding agencies.

It exploits the improved and often novel physical, chemical and biological properties of materials at the nanometer scale. ENIAC was established in 2004 as a Technology platform for Nanoelectronics. Its main goal was to define common research and innovation priorities to ensure a truly competitive nanoelectronics industry in Europe. In 2008 the ENIAC Joint Undertaking (JU) was established. This is a European Community body for the implementation of the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) on nanoelectronics. It was chartered to contribute to the implementation of the Seventh Framework Programme and the theme Information and Communication Technologies of the Specific Programme Cooperation. It has been set up for a period up to 31 December 2017.
